Lady Fingers

Yes, these are my hands. They've always looked this way. Some little girl called me grandma hands in kindergarten and I've obviously never forgotten. But anyway, this isn't about my wrinkly hands, or the big flower ring that I was trying on just for fun. This is about my nails. Has anyone else tried the new gel manicure? I've never been one to get my nails done regularly, only for those occasions for which I wanted to be a little more put together and I would usually get them done right before the event because they start chipping almost instantly. But now I have these pretty nails for two weeks. SERIOUSLY, TWO WEEKS. It costs twice as much as the regular manicure but it's absolutely worth it.

Workdrobe: Week 4

The weather was so beautiful this week that it just didn't seem right to wear pants. Besides, I'm trying to squeeze in as many skirts and dresses as I can before it gets really cold. And remember this? Well, I finally found my midi-length skirt.

Work has been pretty tough this week. Most of my time during this mini break has and will  go towards grading, reading the class novels, and lesson plans but I've also managed to get in a lunch date with Jakhi, visit my great grandma twice this week, and run some errands. I'm hoping that by the end of this weekend I'll be on top of work so that I can get back to the rest of my life, including blogging more than once a week.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and hopefully, you'll be seeing me around here a bit more next week!

Workdrobe: Week 3

This past week was a busy one. Because I started teaching about a month and a half into the school year, I'm playing catch up, which means that it feels like I'm working very hard to only be a little behind (by the end of this upcoming week I will have graded over a thousand individual assignments including 252 essays). Consequently, I've been very tired and missed taking two pictures this week. So over the weekend, I went through the balled up clothes on my floor and put back on the outfits that we didn't snap. Hence, the very wrinkled clothes on Thursday and Friday. On Monday I wore my skull necklace in celebration of Halloween and on wednesday I wore the dress I talked about here.We only have school three days this week and I hoping to use some of the extra time to get ahead at work.

Sidenote: Z loves to play around in my stuff and it is the most adorable thing ever. Most of the time anyway, more so when its not my makeup.

Workdrobe: week 2

Friday's outfit is what happens when I oversleep and throw something on that in theory should work, but doesn't actually look good on and since there's no time to change I just go with it. I probably won't wear Monday's dress to work again since its just a little shorter than what I feel comfortable wearing to teach. As for the hair, my puff is a little off- will work on that.

I've been having fun with all of this and I'm going to try to keep going for the first thirty days. This week I wore a few of my favorite new things- this belt & the leopard shoes. I also love the wooden necklace from target and the purple sweater. I wore both last week and will try to wear them as often as possible because I love them so. The sweater was on sale when I bought it and I'm hoping it will go on sale again because I would really like to get it in another color.

It's snowing today. In October. Crazy. Let's see what kind of outfits I can put together for whats sure to be a crazy weather week.

Treats

I decided to give myself a big reward for returning to work. I figured every month I would put some money to the side to pay for this big treat. Well, I pretty much narrowed it down to a Chanel bag or a trip to Paris. While I would love to go to Paris, having the cash is not enough. Sitter arrangements have to be made, a willing travel buddy is needed and so on. So the bag it is. Or so I thought. I stopped in the Chanel store to get the price for the bags I like and the tote is $2,900. The smaller more classic bag that I really want is $3,900. After hearing the prices, I very carefully placed the bag I had in my hands back in its place and got out of there. WTF?!?!? I just don't think I could spend that kind of money on a purse, though I really wish I could, like really really wish I could just not give a damn or feel materialistic and superficial for buying something like that but I just don't think its going to happen. My heart skipped a beat when I dropped $360 for my Tory Burch tote (which i rationalized as being worth it since it's a work tote and the cost per wear works out really well). So, I'm asking, have you ever bought anything that was frivolous and crazy expensive? Any regrets?
